Accounting & Data Audit
This service isn’t an audit in the traditional sense; we like to think of it as financial spring cleaning.
Sometimes everything looks fine on the surface, but you still have a nagging feeling that something isn’t quite right. Or, perhaps you simply want the reassurance of knowing that your records are accurate and everything is where it should be.
We’ll take a fresh look at your records, check what’s going on behind the scenes, and let you know if the information you’re relying on genuinely reflects what’s happening in your business.
What to Expect
A fresh pair of eyes
We’ll take a thorough look at your bookkeeping, reports and supporting records. Things can look perfectly tidy on the surface while still hiding errors underneath. Remember, a reconciled bank account doesn’t necessarily mean everything has been recorded correctly!
A thorough review
We know where to look and the things that commonly go wrong. We’ll dig into anything that doesn’t make sense and look for issues that could be affecting the accuracy of the information you’re relying on.
Clear answers
We’ll give you a report explaining what we’ve found and why it matters. If something needs attention, we’ll tell you. And if everything looks good, we’ll tell you that too.
Help putting things right
Where changes are needed, we’ll explain what went wrong so you can make the corrections yourself. Or, if you’d rather leave it to us, we can correct the errors for you and provide practical support or training for you or your team.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as a statutory audit?
No. This isn’t a statutory audit and we won’t be providing an audit opinion on your accounts. It’s an independent review of your underlying records to check that the information you’re working with is accurate, reliable and making sense.
When might I need one?
You might have spotted something that doesn’t look quite right, inherited bookkeeping you’re not completely confident in, or simply want reassurance that everything is being recorded properly. It can also be useful in the run-up to your year end, so you know the records you’re handing over to your accountant are accurate and ready to go.
What will you actually look at?
We’ll look at your bookkeeping, financial reports, records and systems as a whole. We know from experience where errors and inconsistencies are most likely to occur, so those are often the first places we’ll look, but the review isn’t limited to those areas.
What will I receive at the end of the review?
You’ll receive a written report explaining what we’ve found, anything we think needs attention and why it matters. And if we don’t find anything of concern, we’ll tell you that too.
Will you help fix any problems you find?
That’s entirely up to you. We’ll always explain where things have wrong so you can make the corrections yourself. However, if you’d rather leave it to us, we’ll be happy to correct any errors for you and provide additional support or training where needed.
Can you work with my existing bookkeeper or finance team?
Absolutely. This isn’t about pointing fingers or finding someone to blame. If you already have someone looking after your accounts, we can work with them to understand how things are currently being done and provide practical support or training where it would be useful.
Want to know for sure?
Whether something doesn’t feel quite right, or if you want reassurance that everything is as it should be, we’ll take a fresh look
at your data and give you a clear picture of where you stand.
