Pricing

How long is a piece of string?

We know, we know – that’s really not a  helpful answer when you’re trying to find out how much an accountant costs! But the truth is, every business is different, and so is the support it needs.

We don’t believe in charging you for things you don’t need, and we certainly don’t squeeze everyone into the same package. We’d rather have a chat about what you’re currently doing, what you feel is missing, and what you think might help you moving forward.

When we’ve listened, we’ll make a few suggestions, and then we can come up with a sensible pricing arrangement that works for both of us.

How our pricing works

Fixed Monthly Fees

There’s a natural rhythm to accounting. Some months there’s loads to do, while others are a little quieter. Rather than charging you separately every time we do something, we’ll look at what you’re likely to need over the whole year and agree a fixed fee, payable monthly in advance.

This means your costs are spread evenly throughout the year, including those busier periods when your annual accounts or tax returns are due. More importantly, it means we can just get on with the work as it comes around.

Questions Welcome!

Please don’t be afraid to ask us questions! We’re not going to charge you every time you need something explained or want to run an idea past us. The whole point is we’re here to support you. Sometimes a general chat might lead to more work, in which case we’ll let you know and agree any additional fees with you first.

One-Off Projects & Extra Work

Sometimes you need help with something that doesn’t fall within your usual arrangement. That might be a one-off project, some extra analysis or an unexpected problem. If this happens, we’ll talk you through what’s involved and agree a separate fee or hourly rate before getting stuck in.

Room to Change

If there’s a change in your circumstances and you feel like you need more support, or perhaps a little less, just have a chat with us. We’re always happy to review your arrangement and see what works best for everyone. Nothing needs to be set in stone forever. After all, who knows what the future holds?

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I get in touch?

We’ll start with a chat to find out a bit about you and what you’re looking for. Afterwards, we’ll put together a proposal explaining what we can do for you and how much it will cost. If you’re happy with that, we’ll send you an engagement letter setting out the terms of our arrangement. Once that’s signed and everything’s in place, we’re ready to get started!

Not at all! Monthly payments are generally for regular, ongoing accounting services. If you just need a one-off piece of work we’ll agree a separate fee. For larger projects, we may ask for a deposit before starting, with the balance payable on completion. We’ll explain all of that when we put your proposal together.

Not necessarily. If you need new bookkeeping software, we can usually include it in your monthly fee at a lower cost than subscribing yourself. If you’re happy with your existing software, we can work with that, provided it’s suitable. And if your current accountant manages your subscription, we can usually arrange to transfer it over.

That’s perfectly normal! You don’t need to know exactly which accounting services you need before getting in touch. Just tell us a little about your business and what you’d like help with. We’ll ask a few questions, get a better idea of your circumstances and make some suggestions based on what we think would be useful.

Let's talk numbers - and not just yours!

Hopefully we’ve given you a better idea of how our pricing works, even if we haven’t given you an actual amount! If you think we might be a good fit, get in touch and tell us a little about what you’re looking for. We’ll take it from there.
