Cashflow Management

What can I actually spend?

A healthy bank balance is lovely, but it doesn’t tell you what’s due out next week, what’s coming in next month, or how much of the money is available for you to spend. Cashflow forecasting gives you a picture of what’s coming next, so you have time to make changes if things aren’t looking quite as healthy as you’d like.

What to Expect

See what’s coming

We’ll build a cashflow forecast around how your business actually works, showing what’s expected in, what needs to go out and what that leaves you with. Depending on your business, we can look days, weeks or months ahead, so you can see what’s around the corner.

Know what to do about it

We won’t just hand you a spreadsheet and leave you to figure it out. We’ll stay in touch, talk you through your current position and flag anything that needs your attention — whether that’s a cash shortage coming up or money sitting in the bank that could be put to better use.

Explore the possibilities

Want to take more money out, buy stock, employ someone or make a big investment? We can change the assumptions and see what happens before you commit, so you can understand the knock-on effect on your cash.

Always up to date

Your forecast will be updated on an agreed schedule with actual figures and adjusted as things change. Our forecasts are designed to be updated quickly, so if something unexpected happens or your plans change, we can see what that means for your cash straight away.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often will my forecast be updated, and how far ahead will we look?

There isn’t a standard answer because it depends on your business and what you need the forecast for. We might look at cash day by day or week by week when things are tight, or take a longer view when there’s more room to breathe. We’ll agree what’s useful at the outset and make changes if your circumstances need it.

It might simply be for you. We can build a forecast as a practical tool for managing the day-to-day finances of your business. On the other hand, you might need something more formal for a lender, investor, pitch deck or funding proposal. Our cashflow forecasts are built around who needs to see it and what they need it for.

We certainly can and, in fact, that’s often when a forecast is most useful. We can work out where the pressure points are, what money you have available and what options you have for getting through them. More importantly, we will keep updating the forecast as the situation changes.

Yes! We can change the assumptions to see what happens if you take on someone new, buy stock or equipment, change your prices, lose a customer, win a big contract or simply want to take more money out of the business.

There are plenty of tools that can produce a forecast, but software can only work with the information and assumptions it’s given. We build our forecasts ourselves, so we can tailor them to the way your business actually works and change them as we need to. More importantly, you get us along with the forecast. Having someone to talk through what it’s telling you and what you might want to do about it is invaluable.

How far will your cash take you?

Whether you’re wondering what you can safely take out, thinking about spending or investing in the business, or worried that things might get a little tight, we’ll help you understand what’s coming and what your options are.
